PATTERNED
GLASS
Patterned or figure rolled glass is made by running
molten glass over a patterned roller which reproduces the
pattern on the glass. Figured roll glass is used to diffuse,
not obscure, an object when viewing. The glass is also
used as a popular decorative product.
WIRED GLASS
6mm wired glass is produced in a similar manner to
figured roll glass except that a sheet of welded wire is
introduced into the molten glass before running it through
the pattern rollers. Wired glass can be used in showerscreens
as a Grade B safety glass as per AS1288 1994. National
Glass carry an extensive range of wired glass.
Did you know?
the
combination of wire and the resultant high heat absorbancy
along with the difficulty in achieving good defect
free edges when cutting, make this product highly susceptible
to thermal breakage. (i.e; shower panels are most notable
for thermal breakage where excessive heat on a cold surface
can cause breakage);
exposed
edge finishes to wired glass are restricted to a rough arris
or manual flat ground edge. Manual flat grinding is available
at a surcharge;

wired
glass is a Grade B safety glass restricted to applications
as per AS1288. It can be cast in place laminated (CIP)
to meet Grade A safety standards.
CLEAR POLISHED WIRED
This is a 6mm clear transparent wired glass
allowing through vision and light penetration. It is used in approved fire
rated windows (see Fire Resistant Glazing).
PICTURE FRAME GLASS
For the needs of the picture framing industry, 2mm clear
float and 2mm diffused non-reflective glass is stocked for
distribution in loose sheets and packs. Sizes are 1220mm
x 920mm. For specialised situations where non-reflection
and ultra-violet protection is required and standard picture
frame glass size are restrictive, Mirogard is
available in a variety of thicknesses and sizes.

ORDERING
PATTERNED GLASS
|
|
|

The standard way of expressing glass sizes in our industry is Height first
x Width second. If the patterned glass is directional, please
state on your order the horizontal or vertical pattern, given that Height is
first size and Width is second size. If panels are out of square
and the patterned side of the glass is glazed a certain way, send a drawing
to ensure you get what you want. |
